Sights that bring Joy to my Heart!

First thing this morning when I got Sam out of bed he gave me a big ol' open mouth smile and sure enough right there on the bottom front- a little tooth poking out of his gums.  Its so cute!

Keeping Jon from killing his arm has been more than a full time job!  Every time I turn around he's doing some stupid thing or another!  The last two nights he's been in my room crying because his arm is swollen and hurts, but first thing this morning what is he doing?  JUMPING off a chair into the love sac, that is until he fell and landed on his arm then it was SCREAM.  So to help with the swelling and keep him in place Ben tied his arm to Justin's old IV pole.  Now every time I walk past the front room I smile at Jon sitting still reading or coloring or playing.  JOY TO MY HEART!!!! And allot less stress!

Goofy Grin

My cute little Sam has started doing the funniest grin.  I'm not sure if it's because of the strange feeling of teeth starting in his gums or just part of his developing personality, but when he smiles he tries so hard to keep his mouth shut resulting in the funniest goofy grin!!

Grandma Julene saves the day…. Again!

After a long day at the hospital and making the decision to cancel our family vacation next week needless to say I was not in the best of spirits.  Not long after we got home Brigham came running in the house and called us all out front.  There we found Julene building a fire in her fire pit she received for Christmas last year.  She said she just kept having a feeling she should get it out.  She busted out the hot dogs, marshmallows and roasting sticks I added lemonade and we all had a great time sitting around the fire pretending we were camping.  After we finished eating Ben pulled out his guitar and we sat together singing and watching the fire burn until late into the night.  THANKS JULENE!

Another Day at the Hospital~

Well, we were all looking forward to Jon getting his cast yesterday, but unfortunately things don't always go as planned!  Jon and I showed up at the Dr's office bright and early at 8 am for an x-ray of his arm and we hoped his cast.  When the Dr came in and put the x-ray up I could tell the bones weren't in the position they were when we left the ER.  So the Dr. decided it would be best to "give them a little push" and see if he could get them back to perfect position again.  That meant a trip to same day surgery to put Jon out again so the Doc could reset the bones.  Luckily (and unluckily for Jon) Jon hadn't eaten breakfast yet so they set the appointment for 1:00 that day and sent us on our way.  Jon was very worried and anxious to get the show on the road so after checking on the other kids at Grandma Conovers and a quick stop at Grandma Rhonda's we drove toward the hospital.  Side note~ on the way we stopped at the Throwdown Gym Sean's been building and got a tour of the almost finished product VERY cool place very zen.  Anyway we arrived at 11:30ish and visited Ben, watched the fountains and generally made a nuisance of our selves until we checked in at 12:30 and found out they moved our time back to 3:30.  Fortunately they had a room for us and let us go back change Jon into cool hospital Pj's and watch movies until time.  Then the nurse came in explained everything and soon they took Jon out.  It only took like 10 min before the Dr came and told me they were finished and it looked great again.  Then I had an hour wait for Jon to wake up and another 45 min till we could go home.  So it was another all day affair and now we have another week or two in the splint then hopefully everything will be ready for a cast!

How Smart is Your Right Foot?

feetTry it….it's a hoot!

This will boggle your mind and you will keep trying over and over again to see if you can outsmart your foot, but, you can't. It's preprogrammed in your brain!

1. While sitting where you are at your desk in front of your computer, lift your right foot off the floor and make clockwise circles.

2. Now, while doing this, draw the number '6' in the air with your right Hand. Your foot will change direction.

I told you so!!! And there's nothing you can do about it! You and I both know how stupid it is, but before the day is done you are going to try it again, if you've not already done so.

Jordanna sent this to me. I admit I tried it a few times.  It's a perfect stress relief when you have kids whining and pulling on you

The predator strikes again~

OK, it's seriously time to do something about our cat Tiger.  Everyday we find at least one half eaten, dead, or dying bird. It's really disturbing.  Tonight he caught a young blue jay.  Emma saw him mauling it and went to the rescue with her cage she's been trying to catch a bird in for at least 3 years.  I guess the bird figured the cage was safer than the cat and jumped in to Emma's delight.  Then she insisted we run the thing straight to the vet (just what I need a vet bill for a bird!) Ben carefully pulled the bird from the cage and after consulting with Aunt Becky, the bird expert, it was decided to hide it in the bushes at the school in hopes of keeping Tiger from finishing the job.  The kids were so thrilled to see (a live) bird up close and Emma begged to keep it as a pet. I hope it survives the night. Tomorrow I'll be finding some sort of belled collar for the cat that will stay on (I've tried two brands already) to warn any birds left in the neighborhood of the great orange hunter.

July 4th

This year we seriously broke away from our 4th of July traditions, and despite feeling a little worried on the 3rd that I would miss the norm, it was a really fun relaxing day! Instead of starting the day bright and early to go to the big parade, something I think I have only missed twice in my life, we started by sleeping a little later then heading to Grandma Rhonda and Grandpa Byron's for breakfast with the whole family.  The kids played, the babies took turns napping, crying and cooing and the adults visited.  Then while the guys messed with computers the girls went to Grandma's room where she gave us each some of her and Great Grandma Forsyth's jewelery.  The little girls loved the old costume pieces and we took time to take pictures and catalog the nice pieces to be checked out for future prom years.  Then when the kids couldn't take it anymore we came to our house to jump in the pool and cool off.  Everyone seemed to have fun and we even let Jon get in after bagging his arm and sitting him in the tube with Grandma's close supervision.  Then back to Grandma's for an amazing dinner!  I will definitely have to get some of those recipes.  The whole day was so laid back I wasn't sure I wanted to ruin it fighting crowds to go watch the fireworks at stadium. So we drove home and put Ben (he had to work today) and Sam to bed.  Then in a last second decision drove to the fireworks at PG Junior High.  It was perfect!  We arrived at 9:30 parked close laid out our blanket the fireworks started at 9:45, they were really good, not stadium but that was kind of the point.  Fireworks finished a little after 10 and we were home with kids in bed by 10:30.  No Crowds No Traffic a perfect ending to a great day!
