Candy Cane Classic

dsc000442

Jon’s Gym held their annual Candy CaneClassic.  It’s a little show for parents and grandparents to see what they have been learning.  Jon’s team preformed a routine on floor, vault, rings and parallel bars.  Jon was great!  It was fun to see what he can do and to have Grandma and Grandpa and Great Grandma and Grandpa as well as Uncle Jake and some cousins there to cheer him on!

I’ll post vidoes of Jon doing the routines as soon as I learn how so check back!

“and the Mother of the Year award goes to…..”

Well. Not me.  With 4 crazy kids we are bound to have our fair share of injuries including 2 sets of stitches 1 head stapling 2 broken arms and 4 knocked out teeth.  All but 2 of these have happened under my watch.  One with Ben and One at the neighbors house.  I’ve tried to convince myself that I’m not a bad Mom it’s just that they are with me more so naturally….  But our latest injury was with out a doubt all my fault.    Sam and I spend a lot of time quilting.  I sew, he plays on the floor if he cries I hold him on my lap while I sew.  So last week I was desperately trying to finish a quilt for Jacob for Christmas and Sam was sitting on my lap “helping”  when he decided to grab the needle.  Of course I was sewing at full speed and talking to Ben, the needle came down right into the left side of Sam’s sweet little thumb nail hit the bone and came back out the right side of the nail.  I screamed Sam SCREAMED and blood went everywhere.  I have never freaked out this much with any previous injury.  It was awful!!!!!  Ben held Sam to keep him from trying to pull it out I called the Dr.  and threw Jon and Brigham (both crying and panicked I’m sure My crying didn’t help) into the van.  We dropped the boys at Grandma’s and rushed Sam to InstaCare.  The Dr pulled out the two pieces sticking out either side then noticed a shadow under the nail and sent us for an x-ray to see if there was any more and sure enough the x-ray showed what looked like one more long piece sightly bent or maybe two pieces.  so we wrapped Sam in a blanket so he couldn’t move numbed up the thumb and the Dr went to work.  He cut out a small pieceof nail and used little tweezers to pull out the pieces.  First a longish piece then a little one.  We are grateful for the Dr and his intuition.  He looked at the pieces and felt that there might be more so went back to work and pulled out one more small piece then another longish one.  The needle had shattered into 6 pieces.  We went over for another x-ray to make sure they were all out.  Then wrapped it up and went home.  I’ve definitely learned my lesson no more quilting help from my curious little Sam.  Sam has been walking more to keep from hurting his thumb when he crawls and Jacob loved the Quilt!

remodeling

Jared the computer master and host to our blog has nicely moved us to wordpress.  Although it looks a little rough right now, hopefully it will be easier in the future.  So for now excuse our dust while I wait for wordpress for dummies to arrive in the mail!
