Goodbye Cross Roads welcome Home Synapse!!!!

First a little history! A week or two before Christmas about 17ish years ago Sean and I were feeling up our gifts under the tree when we came upon what were unmistakably bike locks. I think we were both excited when we realized this meant Santa would be bringing us new bikes and a little sad we ruined the surprise. But sure enough there in the front room Christmas morning was a shiny pink Specialized Cross Roads bike! I loved my pink bike for years, then I met Ben. I think from the first moment he laid eyes on my bike he has been trying to figure out how to get me a new one but I thought my pink specialized was all I’d ever need. I didn’t ride much after Emma was born until I started training for a triathlon last summer and realized I LOVE to bike! Then slowly I started to realize the Cross Roads (made to be ½ mountain ½ road bike) wasn’t going to cut it any more. Ben was finally able to realize his dream last week when we purchased a shiny new Cannondale Synapse! It’s sleek and fast and unlike the Cross Roads the gears shift without and clicking or grinding! Of course after shopping all over town, riding about 20 different bikes then calling everywhere to find the best price, we were able to get a great deal that meant throwing in new clip less peddles (my old ones were hard to use) and some sweet bike capris with the padding to help my already sore sit bones!dsc000073

My NEW skinny seat skinny tires super fast shiny road bike!

Some of you may be thinking “that looks an awful lot like the bike is in Ben and Heathers bedroom”  Yes it is.  Fulfilling another dream of Bens. To keep a bike in the bed room. Its my fault. There’s no way I’m putting my pretty new bike in the garage to get beat up!  Maybe after we finish house remodeling and clear a nice wide clearance space I’ll think about putting it out there.

Chicks, chicks, chicks

dsc00019Ben and I have been talking about getting chickens for a couple years now both for the eggs and to help teach the kids responsibility (I’m not delusional I realize the chances of the kids doing much coop cleaning is slim) With spring coming we decided now was as a good a time as any.  So we got online did a little research, found someone close to home selling chicks and went out and bought 9 sweet little chicks.  After a few hours of discussion (and about 100 reminders that they are all girls) we have come up with names.  In no particular order they are;    Maybell, Clucky, Fluffy, Ted, Tasty, Beatrice, Jasmine, Feisty, and Blossom

In case you think I’m better at telling chicks apart than my own children you should know I’m guessing!  We bought 3 breeds of chicks.  3 leghorns 3 buff orpingtons and 3 rhode island reds.  I know what names belong to what breed after that I’m as lost as anyone!
