The first week of June is party time at our house!  First was Ben’s 35th birthday on the 3rd  then Jon’s 7th birthday on the 4th.  Ben had to work on the 3rd kind of a bummer for him but it gave the kids and I all day to shop so it worked to his advantage in the long run. 

Emma, Jon, Brigham and I dropped Sam off with Aunt Becky and hit the stores bright and early.  Starting at the recreation outlet where we picked up a new backpack for future timp hikes and scout backpacking trips.  Then to the bike store, Costco and the mall.  We were already quite loaded with gifts when we met up with Sean at Grandma Rhonda’s.  He and I ditched the assistant shoppers with Grandma and headed out again.  Sean, my purchase facilitator, helped me pick out and purchase Ben a 22 caliber six shooter and safe to keep it in.   It was a new experience for me.  Answering questions along the lines of   Are you mentally stable?   Do you have a criminal record?  Are you planning to shoot someone?  I could confidently answer most of them.  As to my mental stability I still have doubts.  But I passed the back ground check so I now have a gun registered in my name!   Ben was over the moon with everything (the six shooter).

Next was Jon’s Big Day!

My Jon is quite the kid!  So sweetly shy and so strong and stubborn.  Most people only get to see his shy side, his school teachers tell me how sweet and quiet he is.  He doesn’t dare disobey other adults and follows directions to perfection.  Jon is so so so strong!  Two years in gymnastics have made him even stronger.  On Sunday he did 50 perfect push ups  just for fun. I was blown away!  Jon is stubborn!  It brings back memories of Jared as a boy.  It drives me crazy to the point of tearing my hair out but I think it will serve him well as he grows to stubbornly stick to his standards

For his Birthday Ben bought him an awesome new bike.  We celebrated by going to see the movie UP! (loved it) and going out to dinner at Sizzler.  It was so fun to celebrate JON!
